ABOUT

	This program will patch your installation of Warcraft 2
	so that it can operate with or without your Warcraft 2 CD.
	It is not intended as a way of copying your CD for all your
	friends.

GETTING STARTED

	Copy WC2CRACK.EXE, DETECTCD.EXE and WAR2CD.BAT into your
	Warcraft 2 directory.
	Run WC2CRACK.EXE, if there are any problems you will be
	informed at this stage.
	Only use this program on installations from CD or from
	Blizzard's upgrade patches, not on an installation that
	you or someone else has modified.
	After the modifications are complete, Warcraft 2 should be
	quite happy about running without the CD installed.

TIPS & TRICKS

	If you sometimes wish to play without the CD, and sometimes
	with the CD, you can run DETECTCD.EXE before running WAR2.EXE.
	Be sure to tell DETECTCD where your CD-ROM is.
	e.g. DETECTCD F:\
	If DETECTCD finds your Warcraft 2 data, it will tell Warcraft 2
	that you want the speech and the cut scenes, otherwise
	Warcraft 2 will just run without them.
	Have a look at WAR2CD.BAT for an example on how to do this
	automatically, just run WAR2CD.BAT every time instead of 
	WAR2.EXE.

	If you want to play Warcraft 2 on a computer that has no CD-ROM
	drive, such as a laptop, you don't ever have to run DETECTCD.

	If you have a lot of free drive space on such a computer, you 
	could install all the speech and cut scene data onto the
	hard disk, you will need about 100MB free though.
	The speech data is stored in SNDDAT.WAR, and the cut scene
	data is stored in MUDDAT.CUD.
	Make sure that DETECTCD knows where you have put the data.
	e.g. If you put the data in C:\WAR2CD\DATA, you will call
	DETECTCD C:\WAR2CD
	You will only have to run DETECTCD once, after transferring
	the files.  If you later delete the files, run DETECTCD
	once again.

	If you have the Beyond the Dark Portal CD, you can now play
	all the levels from both episodes without having to put in
	your old Tides of Darkness CD.  Yes, Blizzard put all
	the Tides of Darkness information on the Beyond the Dark
	Portal CD, but didn't tell anyone.
